Key Experience
Kenny Mackenzie formed Gear Mackenzie with his colleague Andy Gear in April 2012. The company specialises in the building surveying services to the commercial property market.
Kenny is a chartered building surveyor and previously worked for Watts Group PLC from 2001 to 2012. He became a Partner within Watts in 2002 prior to Watts incorporation to a PLC. In 2006 Kenny headed up the Watts City office and in 2007 became head of the London commercial surveying department.
Kenny specialises pre-acquisition due diligence work, dilapidations, contract administration and development monitoring commissions across all property types. He has undertaken numerous large city centre acquisition and vendor’s building inspections, retail and industrial parks throughout the UK.
Experienced in Contract Administration for the refurbishment of offices and industrial warehouses. Contracts varying from £20,000 up to £750,000. Complexity of contracts varies from minor simplistic redecoration work to the removal of asbestos roofs and providing new.
Kenny provides Dilapidations advice to both Landlords and Tenants, preparation of Dilapidations Assessments, Preparation of Schedules of Dilapidations and the negotiation on behalf of the instruction party. He has also been involved in the preparation of Repair Notices with involvement extending to the monitoring of tenant works.
He is experienced in project and development monitoring ranging from shopping centre new build and extension and latterly care homes.

In April 2012, together with Kenny Mackenzie, Andy formed the new company, Gear Mackenzie, specialising in commercial building surveying services.
Andy Gear is a chartered building surveyor and qualified project manager. Prior to forming Gear Mackenzie he spent 14 years working for Watts Group, first as a Partner in the London business and from 2004, as Lead Director of their Glasgow office.
Andy specialises in pre-acquisition due diligence work, dilapidations, contract administration and development monitoring commissions.
Over the last ten years Andy has been heavily involved in the refurbishment of a dated 180,000 sq m industrial estate on the outskirts of Glasgow. His involvement has encompassed a variety of contract administration and dilapidations projects, ranging from £20,000 – £2,500,000.
He has broad experience in the refurbishment of office, retail and industrial buildings, both in London and Glasgow markets.
Extensive experience in providing pre-acquisition advice to investors. He has undertaken a large variety of commissions ranging from small retail units to large City Centre office buildings, industrial estates, retail parks and geographically diverse portfolios.
Broad experience in providing development monitoring services to investors and lenders. He has dealt with industrial, hotel, student accommodation and office development schemes.
